The Jerome Westheimer Center for the Performing Arts stands as a premier destination for the arts in Southern Oklahoma. MILES collaborated closely with Ardmore City Schools’ administration, music directors, and focus groups to execute a comprehensive programming and planning initiative. Additionally, benchmarking visits to various performing arts centers provided essential technical insights to shape the vision for this facility. The result is a tailored design that addresses both the current and future needs of the City of Ardmore.
Located in Ardmore, Oklahoma, adjacent to the high school’s football stadium, the center features an 800-seat performance hall, a balcony, an orchestra shell, adjustable acoustics, an orchestra pit, a full fly loft, and a rigging pit. The facility’s versatile design supports a wide range of performances, including musical theater, band and orchestra concerts, dance recitals, presentations, and award ceremonies.
Key design elements include a spacious lobby suitable for events and dinners, as well as a dance and choir rehearsal space equipped with a sprung floor. Students benefit from a large band and orchestra rehearsal room, along with individual practice rooms. Dressing rooms and a scene shop are conveniently located to facilitate performance preparations.
Public corridors serve as art galleries to showcase local student work, while additional amenities include a catering kitchen, faculty offices, and support spaces designed to meet the needs of both students and the broader Ardmore community.
